As detailed in Security Affairs, the Alternative für Deutschland party recently confirmed a significant data breach involving its hosting provider. The incident resulted in the unauthorized copying of numerous internal mailboxes, which were subsequently processed and indexed by an anonymous website.
The breach, which the party acknowledged on Oct. 19, 2026, involves approximately 421,000 internal emails. An anonymous site, hexane.cc, published AI-generated summaries of these communications, categorizing them by themes such as racism and antisemitism. While the party claims the breach affected only inactive accounts, the index includes messages dated as recently as Sept. 12, 2026. The site does not provide the original source text, complicating verification efforts. Security researchers and media outlets have noted that the leaked archive appears to contain genuine sensitive documents, including identity cards and membership lists. The attacker reportedly gained access through an unpatched website before reaching mail servers. This incident carries significant implications for the party, as it currently faces legal scrutiny regarding its classification as a right-wing extremist organization. The authenticity of the AI-generated summaries remains unverified, leaving the public and legal authorities to navigate the potential impact of these disclosures on ongoing debates regarding a potential party ban in Germany.
