Data breach compromises Princeton University

Princeton University had information from its students, faculty members, alumni, and donors breached following a phishing attack against one of its employees, BleepingComputer reports.

Infiltration of Princeton University's systems allowed threat actors to access a database containing names, phone numbers, email addresses, and home and business addresses belonging to current students, current and previous faculty and staff, all alumni, their spouses and partners, their widows and widowers, and all of the University's donors, according to Princeton officials.

However, no Social Security numbers, credentials, and financial details were part of the compromised database, said officials, who added that access to the database has since been blocked.

Such a disclosure from Princeton comes weeks after the University of Pennsylvania, which is also a private Ivy League research university, reported having data from IT systems used for development and alumni activities stolen in an October cyberattack facilitated by a stolen employee's PennKey SSO account.
