The White House has included commitments to bolster U.S. defenses against cybersecurity threats as part of its national security strategy, according to The Record, a news site by cybersecurity firm Recorded Future.
The U.S. has been coordinating with allies and partners, including Japan, India, and Australia, in defining cybersecurity standards for critical infrastructure entities, as well as jointly strengthening incident response capabilities, the document notes.
"We aim to deter cyberattacks from state and non-state actors and will respond decisively with all appropriate tools of national power to hostile acts in cyberspace, including those that disrupt or degrade vital national functions or critical infrastructure," said the document, which also noted the Biden administration's moves to improve cooperation between law enforcement agencies, as well as combat cryptocurrency-based laundering of cybercrime proceeds.
The Biden administration has also expressed its continued commitment to comply with the UN General Assembly-endorsed framework on appropriate cyberspace actions.
