Cybercrime domains seized by FBI, Justice Department

Share

CyberScoop reports that the FBI and the U.S. Department of Justice were able to bust three domains leveraged by threat actors for the trade of stolen data and distributed denial-of-service attack tools. Threat actors were able to leverage the first of the seized domains, weleakinfo.to, to access compromised personal information that could be used in financial crimes and identity fraud attacks. A related site using the weleakinfo.com domain had been seized by authorities two years ago. Moreover, the ovh-booster.com and ipstress.in domains that offer DDoS for hire services have also been grabbed by the authoriites. "These seizures are prime examples of the ongoing actions the FBI and our international partners are undertaking to disrupt malicious cyber activity. Disrupting malicious DDoS operations and dismantling websites that facilitate the theft and sale of stolen personal information is a priority for the FBI," said FBI Washington Field Offices Criminal and Cyber Division Special Agent in Charge Wayne Jacobs.
