Cyber incident hits Russian bread producer

Plain code with the word "cyberattack" in red.

Major Russian regional bread manufacturer Vladimir Bread Factory had its order processing and deliveries disrupted following a Sunday cyberattack against its internal digital systems, reports The Record, a news site by cybersecurity firm Recorded Future.

Even though the operations of Vladimir Bread Factory's production line and bakeries were spared, the incident has led to temporary bread shortages. Additional details regarding the intrusion, which has prompted a return to manual order and shipment processing, remain unclear, with Vladimir Bread Factory not detailing when it will be able to restore affected systems.

Such a development comes months after a supply chain disruption among Russian local dairy producers stemming from the breach of the country's animal-based product certification platform. Southern Siberia's largest dairy processing plant was also reported to have been impacted by a ransomware attack in early 2025, which was suspected to have been associated with the facility's support to Russian troops in Ukraine.
