Commvault has announced it will offer its data protection and cyber resilience platform as a launch partner on the forthcoming AWS European Sovereign Cloud, a new independent cloud region designed to meet stringent EU data sovereignty requirements, according to DataCentreNews United Kingdom. The AWS European Sovereign Cloud, set to launch in Brandenburg, Germany, will operate entirely within EU borders, with infrastructure and day-to-day operations managed exclusively by EU-resident personnel, ensuring customer data remains under regional control. Commvault Cloud on this environment aims to serve European governments and regulated industries that must comply with data residency rules while defending against escalating cyber threats. The platform delivers SaaS-based data protection with AI-enabled discovery, classification, and policy recommendations, along with cyber resilience features such as air-gapped backups, AI-enhanced threat detection, and cleanroom recovery orchestration for isolated threat analysis. According to Commvault's EMEAI Field CTO Darren Thomson, the partnership addresses the "immense pressure" on organizations to balance sovereignty mandates with robust security.
