Checkr launches Identity Verification to combat hiring fraud

Human resources technology company Checkr Inc. has launched Identity Verification (IDV), a new hiring solution designed to help employers confirm candidates are who they claim to be, according to a recent report by Silicon Angle.

The IDV offering is integrated into Checkr's application flow, enabling businesses to detect fraud earlier, reduce operational risks, and make more accurate hiring decisions. This is particularly relevant in the age of AI, where impersonation and bots are increasingly sophisticated. IDV combines liveness detection to identify deepfakes and masks, device and network intelligence to flag VPNs and location mismatches, and forensic document analysis to detect tampering and verify ID security features.

Failed verifications prevent background checks from starting, saving screening costs. Early testing with customers has shown results such as mismatched names, fake selfie submissions, and invalid IDs.
