AT&T on Thursday announced it is acquiring the global security consulting business of VeriSign to complement the telcom giant's suite of network-based cybersecurity services. The practice helps Fortune 500 firms meet compliance requirements, identify vulnerabilities, respond to attacks and reduce overall risk, according to a news release. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The move by VeriSign aligns with a 2007 decision to concentrate on its core internet infrastructure business and divest other units. — DK
