Anonymous turns attention to Chinese web oppression
Anonymous has turned its beehive toward a new target. The hacktivist group has defaced some 500 Chinese business and government websites over the last week, and in some cases leaked personal information, all done as a protest against the government's censorship practices. "Hello, we are Anonymous," read a Friday Pastebin post. "All these years the Chinese government has subjected their people to unfair laws and unhealthy processes. People, each of you suffers from tyranny of that regime." Some of the defacements offered advice to the Chinese people, such as to use virtual private networks or Tor to fool and bypass government filters.
