Anonymous targets Anaheim after residents protest police

Share

Hacktivist collective Anonymous, in a video and press release posted Wednesday on YouTube, called on its supporters to deface Anaheim, Calif. city websites, steal data, dox police officers and bombard officials with emails in response to two fatal shootings by police and their resulting response to protests in the city over the last several days. The demonstrations against police brutality began after cops on Saturday shot and killed unarmed Manual Diaz, 24, who reportedly fled from a group of officers after they stopped him on the street. The following day, they killed robbery suspect Joel Acevedo. Protests have been raised in response, leading to dozens of arrests, and police to shoot pepper balls and bean bags into crowds of demonstrators to maintain control.
