BleepingComputer reports that hacktivist operation Anonymous Sudan has claimed to have launched a distributed denial-of-service attack against the Microsoft Azure Portal amid outages experienced by the portal.
Azure Portal began showing error notifications upon access at nearly 15:00 UTC on June 9, according to Microsoft, which added that it was already able to identify a possible root cause for the disruption and has been looking to mitigate the issue by 16:35 UTC. Microsoft has seemingly addressed the issue, with the Azure Portal already live and stable.
Such an attack comes just days after Anonymous Sudan, which is believed to be of Russian origin, claimed to target Microsoft Outlook and OneDrive with DDoS attacks, which Microsoft has not yet confirmed.
"We are aware of these claims and are investigating. We are taking the necessary steps to protect customers and ensure the stability of our services," said Microsoft.
