Anonymous voiced its opinion in the national transgender bathroom debate by unleashing a string of attacks that stalled North Carolina state government websites in protest of the state's so called “bathroom law.”
The controversial law requires transgenders to use the restroom that corresponds with the gender they were assigned at birth. Several of the state's websites were taken down over the past few days, according to tweets on the hacktivist group's @OperationLGBT account.
"We ask you to reverse the bathroom law or expect more...," a member of Anonymous tweeted Monday at North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory.
CNN reported Monday that many state domains were inaccessible, however, the state's main site remained online. And, many sites Anonymous claimed to have defaced appeared to function normally when SCMagazine.com visited them.
A state spokesperson told CNN all the state's websites were operating normally.
