CNN reports that Russia-linked threat operation Void Blizzard had suspected member Denis Obrezko apprehended as part of a joint law enforcement operation by the FBI and Thai police.

Multiple electronic devices belonging to Obrezko, including his mobile phone, notebook computer, and digital wallet, sequestered after being tracked down at his hotel room on Nov. 6, which was a week after he had arrived in Thailand, according to the country's Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau.

"This individual had previously breached security systems and attacked government agencies in both Europe and the United States," said the CCIB, which noted the alleged hacker's detainment in Bangkok's Criminal Court prior to his extradition to the U.S.

The arrest of a Russian citizen alleged to have conducted cybercriminal activities has been confirmed by the Russian embassy in Thailand, which noted the operation to have been done at the behest of the U.S. The Justice Department has yet to comment.
