Yahoo satisfied government intelligence request for information by scanning all incoming customer email using custom-made software, Reuters is reporting.
Although the report said the nature of the data the government sought was unknown, it cited anonymous sources as saying the request came from the National Security Agency or FBI. Two of the sources are former Yahoo employees who also claimed the decision by Yahoo CEO Marisa Meyer to acquiesce to the government's demands prompted the departure of CISO Alex Stamos, who now heads up security at Facebook.
