The Air Force Association received a $1 million grant from the Northrop Grumman Foundation toward its CyberPatriot program that encourages high school students to take courses that lead to careers in cyber security. According to a release, this will be the third year that the Northrup Grumman Foundation will serve as the presenting sponsor. Currently in its fifth year, more than 1,000 teams have registered for the big events in 2012 – a 40 percent increase from 2011. Considered one of the largest cyber defense competitions in the nation, the first round takes place on November 2 and 3. Winning teams receive scholarship funds contributed by the Northrop Grumman Foundation.
