AI forces major shift in cloud security strategy

The rapid integration of artificial intelligence is fundamentally transforming cloud security, forcing a shift from traditional compliance-focused tools to dynamic, behavior-based defense systems, according to Forbes.

Traditional Cloud-Native Application Protection Platforms (CNAPPs), designed for static infrastructure, are proving inadequate for AI-driven environments where models and agents operate dynamically and unpredictably. According to Dror Kashti, CEO of Sweet Security and a former Israeli Brigadier General, the key is moving beyond static rules to systems that learn a environment's normal behavior to detect subtle, real-time anomalies.

This new paradigm prioritizes runtime context, monitoring live system calls, API requests, and AI prompt traffic, over static configuration snapshots as the primary control plane for security. This approach allows defenders to correlate thousands of events and focus on genuine threats, effectively using AI to counter AI-powered attacks. The industry is recognizing this shift, evidenced by trends like Sweet Security's recent $75 million funding round aimed at merging cloud and AI runtime visibility.
