Adaptavist Group investigates security breach amidst ransomware claims

Security breach, system hacked alert with red broken padlock icon showing unsecure data under cyberattack, vulnerable access, compromised password, virus infection, internet network with binary code

Based on information from The Register, UK enterprise software consultancy The Adaptavist Group is investigating a significant security breach. The incident came to light when an unauthorized individual gained access to company systems using stolen credentials, prompting an immediate internal review and the engagement of external security experts.

The breach was detected in late March when an attacker exploited compromised login details. Adaptavist, which specializes in tools for platforms like Atlassian's Jira and Confluence, stated that the accessed systems contained typical business data, including contact information and client contracts.

However, a ransomware group known as "The Gentlemen" has claimed responsibility, alleging a "complete infrastructure compromise" and the theft of a vast amount of data, including customer records, source code, and internal documents. Adaptavist disputes these claims, stating there is currently no evidence that sensitive customer data was accessed or exfiltrated.
