1Kosmos achieves DoD Impact Level 4 authorization for identity platform

1Kosmos has secured U.S. Department of Defense Impact Level 4 authorization for its identity platform, extending its existing FedRAMP High Authority to Operate and positioning the unified system for mission-critical defense workloads, Biometric Update reports.

The approval allows military organizations and mission partners to use the platform for identity proofing, digital identity wallets, and passwordless authentication in more sensitive operating environments. The company said it is now the only Kantara-certified credential service provider supporting both FedRAMP High and IL4 authorization in a single platform, enabling defense components to strengthen phishing-resistant access controls while reducing complexity. The platform is designed to verify the real person behind each digital identity and bind that user to passwordless authentication, supporting military and federal use cases, including contractor onboarding, remote access, account recovery, PIV/CAC bridging, and access to controlled unclassified information.

The authorization comes as defense agencies face mounting risks from phishing, credential theft, social engineering, and AI-enabled impersonation. The IL4-authorized platform is available immediately through federal procurement channels and cloud marketplaces.
