Selecting just one “Skills in Demand” is nearly impossible since there are so many skills within Cyber Security that are being sought today. If we exclude senior leadership roles and focus only on hands-on technical roles, then I'll select a senior security engineer.
What it takes
Duties can vary widely, but the SE needs a thorough knowledge of overall security technology. They must not only have the ability to design /architect a security system, but be able to find the gaps in security coverage and remediate risk. The SE needs a strong forensics background, plus great skills in firewalls, IPS/ IDS, DLP, routers, switches, security tools, etc.
Compensation
Compensation ranges can be $70,000 to $130,000 (higher for contractors and high cost-of-living areas).
