New incident response study indicates the human factor is critical but undervalued

Investigation into the cause of the incident and efforts to restore impacted systems are still underway, said officials in a Dec. 30 announcement emphasizing that the cyberattack had not affected the city's emergency response services.

Maine's South Portland Public Schools had its network shut down on Sunday following a weekend intrusion against its firewall that was discovered to have been facilitated by a Bulgarian IP address.

Most of the impacted services have since been restored but additional details regarding the identity of the intrusion's perpetrators have not been provided by the firm.
