This was the only appliance-based solution we received for this review. The setup was easier than the full software deployments, but not as easy as you would assume for an appliance-based solution. The setup involves connecting a PC directly to the preconfigured IP address of the appliance. A web page guides you through adding the appliance to the IP infrastructure. Once done, the remaining configuration is done through a browser from any system on the network. There are two options for configuration access: through the web portal, the webadmin and the configtool.
There are a wide range of Digipass authenticators supported. Some examples include one-button devices, pin-pad authenticators, card readers and software-based solutions for web browser or mobile phone.
Reporting and logging were lacking in the management interface. Very little reporting is available. Logging levels can be configured, but lack real usefulness due to the lack of formal reporting.
For the Digipass licenses for 1-50 users costs are $122.62, which includes Digipass GO3, Identikey license and maintenance per user.
This can be a very useful solution for organizations wanting an appliance-based, fully integrated solution for adding multifactor authentication support for employees or for external user access to VPN or web-based applications. It is geared to small- to medium-sized organizations, but does have enterprise scalability and disaster recovery capabilities, such as appliance replication.
