This is an easy two-factor system that a new administrator can implement to boost an existing system.
This software gives multiple settings and the ability not only to have a strong Windows security policy but also a separate policy in the token management for added security. The facility to set what is needed to login and update the policy quickly is flexible enough to give administrators strong security in multiple situations and still allow end users to complete their everyday tasks with out compromising data integrity.
The PassGo Defender software has multiple token settings and the ability to require both token and LDAP password for login either or individually. The software supports both traditional hardware tokens and software "Desktop" tokens that can reside on a PC's hard disk, PDA or USB flash disk.
Technical support provided by the vendor allows for multiple contacts via email, phone or open online discussion forums, giving many people the ability to communicate their problems in the open for help. This open forum means even if the company tech support has not seen the problem another user may have and be able to help.
Installation of the product on a network was as easy as it could be and this allowed for quick implementation of the product in our test environment. The security of the server was left intact following installation. PassGo has designed its product to integrate directly into Windows Active Directory (We tested this on our Windows 2003 server). This set up allows for ease of management and testing before deployment and allows you to add new users all at once versus having to add into more than one database.
The software is very easy to understand and the user interface, both in set up and in the added menus of the system, was well designed. The software added no delay as far as authenticating users was concerned.
Overall, this is a great product for the money that allows for ease of install and portable authentication on a network where security is needed in a hurry. PassGo dropped a few points in our evaluation versus some other products because it supports fewer environments.
