Two processes are engaged when a device is added to the network. First, the NACwall alerts the appropriate people via email and, second, the tool audits the newly discovered system for vulnerabilities. If the system is found to be vulnerable, the product can quarantine the vulnerable device through a smart switch, firewall or through both types of devices. The discovery process works in reverse fashion as well.
The management approval process works by allowing two types of accounts - management and IT staff. Each member of the IT staff is assigned a manager. A manager can see tasks assigned to IT staff, but not the manager's IT staff.
Installation of the device was very easy and requires little knowledge of networks or security to install, run and maintain.
NACwall Micro shipped with a hard copy quick start guide. In addition, electronic versions of the entire administration manual are available from the NACwall itself.
Support is included for the first year with no additional fees. After the first year has expired, bronze support is 12 percent, but there is also a silver support plan which is 20 percent of the purchase price. To get a trouble ticket created, NetClarity offers email, phone and web options.
The pricing is at the low end of the spectrum, making NACwall Micro a very good value.
