AIMS provides a complete set of identity management (IdM), network access control (NAC) and data leakage prevention (DLP) features. The Avatier solution - via its flexible connector framework - integrates with on-premise custom applications and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions, as well as cloud-based applications. The online shopping cart format is easy to navigate. The connectors communicate with the target systems and allow for automation of identity actions, such as password changes, account provisioning, access granting and more.
The Avatier's identity management workflow provides security by ensuring rights approvals are obtained by the appropriate personnel prior to committing the request to production. Other features include Identity Enforcer, which puts access risk accountability in the hands of the business user. The IT Store enables access risk management. Users order IT services - like requests for access, assets or applications - through an integrated online web store.
When systems update, new members are added and unauthorized members removed. Strategic Realizer allows users to understand risks, track performance and make better operational decisions. The feature also lets users report on risk categories meaningful to the business. With no software to install, users experience no delays in knowing risks. Identity Analyzer gives a complete view of all user accounts across an enterprise. Regardless of technical expertise, it allows administrators to see all of the user access in the environment. Users can even check the status of accounts that have been disabled or deleted. Password Station hands the power to reset passwords back to the user, eradicating the number one help desk call. Plus, with Password Station, users may reset anytime and anywhere using a web browser or automated phone system.
Included installation information was extensive. An array of options were presented based on the features to be used, including: hardware (AIMS Administration Server), software (AIMS Administration Server), primary user directory stores and web clients. For this evaluation, Avatier provided recommendations for Microsoft technologies. In this scenario, the system is installed on a Microsoft Server operating system with IIS as its web server. Microsoft SQL Server is leveraged as its core database.
The product was easy to use. The simple dashboard gives the initial impression that the tool is going to be too rudimentary. However, once the user starts moving around within the features and functions, they soon realize this is a serious product.
Support costs begin at 20 percent of the software cost with annual software and maintenance depending on the level of support chosen - standard or AvatierCare. Avatier's assistance methods include phone, email and web-based solutions on the company's website. No other support information or pricing levels were provided.
This is a good value for the money.
