A Hugarian court has fined a virus writer $2,400 for infecting tens of thousands of computers.
Veszprem City Court awarded teenager Laszlo K with two years' probation, but almost sentenced him to a year's detention in a juvenile prison.
The virus, Magold-A, was sent via email and activated when users opened the attachment that offered photos of a Hungarian porn star. It then disabled antivirus software and other parts of the computer.
Police found the youth because he included his personal details in early versions of the virus.
