The U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Finance Center was officially named a certified provider of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) services for the federal government.
The NFC solution, which is based on Entrust software, won the certification after meeting the requirements of the Federal Identity Credentialing Committee, according to Entrust.
The collaboration between the NFC and Entrust will allow unprecented ageny-to-agency technology and services while also speeding e-government initiatives and reducing costs, Randy Speed, NFC PKI program manager, said in a prepared statement.
NFC has long provided other government agencies with services such as financial and payroll provisioning, Entrust said.
