Gov. Ted Strickland said Wednesday that the tape contained up to 225,000 names and Social Security numbers of Ohioans with uncashed tax refund checks issued in the past three years, 602 lottery winners who have not cashed checks, 2,488 Ohioans with uncashed checks of unclaimed funds and the names and bank account numbers of up to 1,000 electronic fund transfer transactions that were rejected.
More details: A state policy written in 2001 called for a network administrator to take home a copy of the data backup tape home each night.
