Reportedly the Trump administration is preparing to take action to counter what U.S. officials say are China’s continued efforts to steal American trade secrets. The Washington Post is reporting the Department of Justice will announce indictments of the malicious actors working for Chinese intelligence agencies that are suspected of operating cyberespionage campaigns against U.S. targets. There is also expected to be a public condemnation of China’s alleged repudiation of the 2015 agreement to not use cyberattacks for financial gain. This is not the first move the U.S. government has recently made to try and stem cyberespionage efforts. Just last month the U.S. asked its allies to stop using equipment from the Chinese firm Huawei Technologies and earlier this month Meng Wanzhou, Huawei CFO, was arrested in Canada on an American warrant where she currently resides in jail awaiting extradition to the U.S.
