The study conducted by security firm BAE Systems reveals that IT decision makers and C-suite executives believe the other is responsible should a cyber threat ultimately lead to a compromise of critical business assets.
Of the 221 executives and 984 IT leaders polled, 35 percent of C-suite respondents believe IT teams are responsible, while 50 percent of IT decision makes indicated senior management should be to blame, according to the study.
Additionally, the two groups are also not on the same page as it relates to their estimates of what a single cyber attack would cost their business. While top-level executives estimated a successful attack to cause a $11.6 million hit, IT decision makers predicted it to be around $19.2 million.
