How many victims? A hacker gained access to the personal info of 1,100 students, and possibly 375 applicants for the 2004-05 school year.
What kind of personal information? Names, birth dates and Social Security numbers.
When was the breach discovered? On June 15, accepted applicants notified the school that accounts had already been set up in their names.
What was the response? The university sent emails and letters to applicants and students whose information as breached and advised them to place a fraud alert on their accounts. The university will also pay for a one-year credit monitoring service for victims.
