PC vendors such as Fujitsu, HP, and Lenovo will be releasing patches this week for a severe vulnerability found in Intel-based business systems
If leveraged, the flaw found in laptops, servers, and desktops makes it much easier for attackers to compromise those products.
In an updated notice issued by Intel on Friday, the company asks its clients to “take steps to secure vulnerable systems as soon as possible,” seeing as the details tied to the exploits are now public. In addition to affecting current enterprise Core processors, the bug is also found on the company’s first-generation of Core processors, which date back to 2008.
In an effort to aid IT administrators in identifying which machines were built with the flaw, the company has released a free detection tool.
