A security specification currently in the works strives to help companies safeguard their networks from worms, viruses, software vulnerabilities and denial of service attacks by allowing users to enforce security policies that stop untrusted systems from connecting to their infrastructures.
The open industry standards body Trusted Computing Group (TCG) is developing this open specification to improve organizations' network security and integrity, and plans to make the standard available later this year.
Extreme Networks, Foundry Networks, Funk Software, InfoExpress, Juniper Networks, Meetinghouse Data Communications, Network Associates, Sygate, Symantec, Trend Micro and Zone Labs have joined TCG to participate. Existing TCG members that are also helping in the effort include HP, Intel, Verisign and others.
TCG has formed a sub-group under its Infrastructure Work Group to develop the specification.
