What type of personal information? Names, addresses, phone numbers dates of birth and Social Security numbers.
What happened? On April 15 school officials found out about the infected computer. The computer itself did not have sensitive information, but was hooked up to a network that contained the personal information of 15, 487 students who applied for financial aid between January 2004 and April 15.
What was the response? The school informed the Honolulu Police Department and FBI.
KCC said it has taken steps to prevent future breaches.
The school is notifying affected students and encouraging them to review credit reports.
