At least a dozen Kaspersky Lab employees were visited by FBI agents on Tuesday to ask questions as part of a counter-intelligence inquiry.

The agents visited the homes of the employees of the Russia-based cybersecurity company in multiple locations on both the East and West Coasts, according to a report by NBC News.

At the moment there is no indication that the visits are part of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian meddling into the 2016 presidential election.

The company sells cybersecurity software to businesses in the U.S. and has stated that it has no ties to any government, even though intelligence officials believe it does have ties to Russia.

“As a private company, Kaspersky Lab has no ties to any government, and the company has never helped, nor will help, any government in the world with its cyberespionage efforts,” the company said in a statement.
