Dragos has acquired the industrial control system (ICS) visibility technology firm NexDefense and has announced the availability of a suite of tools for companies to assess their ICS security.
No financial or organizational details on the deal were released.
"This is a mainly a technology acquisition, however a majority of the engineering team is joining Dragos as well. The technology will not be used internally or by the Dragos services team; the Dragos Platform technology is significantly more mature and robust," said Robert Lee, CEO and Founder of Dragos .
Dragos said the acquisition was done as part of Dragos’ on-going plan to safeguard critical infrastructure and make ICS security tools more easily available. That goal is tied to the release of the free Dragos Community Tools, which provides free asset identification tools to help organizations improve their ICS security.
“Dragos is committed to safeguarding civilization, and central to this mission is finding ways to provide tools and resources for the entire community,” said Lee. “With the acquisition of NexDefense, we can provide a free asset identification tool specifically for operators looking to start with situational awareness and enable continuous asset monitoring capabilities, thereby helping move our entire community closer to the next level of maturity in security against cyber threats.”
