Dozen fixes due on Microsoft Patch Tuesday

IT administrators will be busy next week when Microsoft releases a monster Patch Tuesday update, sending out a dozen security fixes to users of its software.

Nine of this month’s fixes are for Microsoft Windows, with a maximum severity rating of critical.

Another bulletin will affect Microsoft Exchange, with a maximum severity rating of important.

The remaining two patches will both affect Microsoft Office. They will have a maximum severity rating of critical.

One of the patches is expected to fix a flaw in Microsoft Word that allows a hacker to execute code onto a PC from a remote location.

The Redmond, Wash., software company will also release an update for its Malicious Software Removal Tool, and three high priority non-security updates.
