Company news: New hires at Accuvant, ZeroFox and ThreatStream

» Renee Guttmann (left) has joined enterprise information security firm Accuvant as vice president in the Office of the CISO. Guttmann previously served as Coca-Cola's CISO, where she stepped into the role in January 2011. In her position at Denver-based Accuvant, she will be responsible for providing guidance to security management within enterprise-level organizations to improve their thought leadership as it pertains to security strategies. Before joining Coca Cola, Guttmann held positions at Time and Time Warner, Capital One, Glaxo Wellcome and Gartner.

» Shane Shook has joined social risk management firm ZeroFOX as chief strategy officer. In the role, Shook will further establish the Baltimore-based company's presence on the West Coast and expand the firm's strategic offerings for critical customer markets, including information technology, retail and financial services. Before joining ZeroFox, Shook was the chief knowledge officer for Cylance, an Irvine, Calif. enterprise, critical infrastructure and embedded cyber security provider. 

» Juniper Networks, a Sunnyvale, Calif.-based networking equipment provider, has announced that it will be divesting its Junos Pulse mobile security products to a private equity firm for $250 million. Siris Capital acquired the products, which are intended to bring SSL VPN connectivity, security and collaboration to various phone operating systems. Juniper Networks announced in February an “integrated operating plan,” which will “refocus the company on innovation that matters most to service providers.” Reuters then reported in April that Junos Pulse was on the market. The company intended to augment and support its Junos Pulse line when it purchased SMobile, a mobile security software company, for $70 million in 2010.

» BlackBerry has acquired Germany-based voice and data encryption firm Secusmart. The firm had previously worked with Secusmart to enhance security offerings for customers, namely in the release of its SecuSUITE for BlackBerry 10 solution. Secusmart provides “anti-eavesdropping solutions for government organizations, enterprises and telecommunications service providers” in its home base of Germany and abroad, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada-based BlackBerry announced. With the deal, BlackBerry said it aimed to bolster its end-to-end mobile security solutions. 

» Hugh Njemanze (left) has joined Redwood City, Calif.-based threat intelligence firm ThreatStream as CEO. Njemanze was formerly the co-founder, chief technology officer and executive vice president of research and development of ArcSight, and is credited as a thought leader in security information and event management (SIEM). Most recently, he served as an entrepreneur in residence at venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. 

» IOActive, a Seattle-based information security services firm, has made two new appointments. Bradford Hegrat joined the company as industrial services director, while Jason Larsen was named a principal security consultant. Prior, Hegrat was the chief security adviser at Rockwell Automation and Larsen previously worked at Idaho National Labs, where he routinely assessed critical infrastructure software and hardware.
