Branndon Kelley – American Municipal Power

Why Nominated: Branndon Kelley is the Chief Information Officer at American Municipal Power (AMP) and has more than 20 years of experience providing leadership and governance for technology programs, projects and departments. His experience spans IT operations, infrastructure, application development, project management, cybersecurity, executive leadership, strategy and business development.

Profile: Just because someone walks in the front door – either physical or digital – doesn’t mean they can be trusted. That’s why Branndon Kelley turned his team’s attention to insider threats hidden in the corporate network and data center.

As CIO, Kelley oversees all information technology, SCADA/plant systems and cybersecurity functions, projects and people. He is responsible for setting, facilitating and leading technology strategy and tactical execution. For the past 10 years, Kelley has led AMP through a complete IT transformation and created a 360-degree cybersecurity approach for the company that leverages best- in- class security products, robust user awareness and training, and continuous monitoring and visibility. AMP has invested heavily in perimeter and endpoint security, but Kelley knew that if an attacker does evade the energy provider’s network perimeter and endpoint security defenses, IT wouldn’t see the hidden threat. His contributions helped AMP detect insider threats faster and with less effort.
