Dan Guido have taken positions as hackers-in-residence within the Computer Science and Engineering department of the Polytechnic Institute of

eEye Digital Security, an Irvine, Calif.-based vulnerability management solution provider. BeyondTrust plans to integrate eEye's Retina CS Vulnerability Management and Analytics solutions with its PowerBroker family of products to deliver context-driven security and compliance solutions.

Health Information Trust Alliance (
HITRUST), based in Frisco, Texas, has announced the launch of a center to assist the health care industry in fighting growing threats to cyber security. The aim of the new
HITRUST Cybersecurity Incident Response and Coordination Center is to offer “crucial support” for the health care industry. In addition, the center will make available cyber threat information to the broader industry. The center is working with 14 leading industry organizations, representing health plans and health systems, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to share various incident information. The center will collaborate with HITRUST and others to identify and remediate incidents, and will also obtain and synthesize cyber threat and response information from numerous other sources to make the information more readily available to center participants.

LANDesk previously licensed this technology as part of its LANDesk Data Analytics product. Financial terms were not disclosed. LANDesk will continue to sell its version of LANDesk Data Analytics as add-on options to its systems and security management products.

Appthority a San Francisco-based app security vendor, named “Most Innovative Company at RSA Conference 2012,” for its cloud-based Appthority Platform, which automatically identifies and grades risky behavior in mobile apps, has secured $6.25 million in a Series A financing round led by
Venrock and
US Venture Partners (USVP).
Ray Rothrock and
Steve Krausz, partners at Venrock and USVP respectively, will join Appthority's board of directors. Appthority will use the funding to fuel company growth and expand its footprint in San Francisco. Gunderson Dettmer also participated in the round.
