St. Bernard Software, maker of internet security appliances, has acquired
Red Condor, a provider of email security solutions. According to St. Bernard, the $3.5 million purchase provides the company with a natural extension to its product portfolio and business strategy.
Comodo, an SSL certificate authority, has appointed
Phillip Hallam-Baker.vice president and principal scientist. He will lead web security and software development in the Americas. He was principal scientist at
VeriSign.
SenSage, provider of security intelligence solutions, has named
Joe Gottlieb president and CEO. He most recently served as vice president of marketing and business development.
CIOs from the nation's largest transit entities have formed the
Transit CIO Consortium. The group will act as a forum for technology and program information exchange among CIOs. Members are expected to collaborate on such topics as cloud computing, data security, IT governance, PCI compliance and smart cards.
Imperva, provider of database and application security, has launched the Hacker Intelligence Initiative, a research effort designed to understand how the business of cybercrime operates. Researchers will leverage techniques, such as forum monitoring and traffic surveillance, to understand the anatomy of attacks. They plan to release findings based on what they uncover.

Internap Network Services, provider of internet business products and services, has partnered with
Alert Logic to add security services to its managed hosting portfolio. The reseller agreement will allow Internap to offer services from Alert Logic, such as vulnerability assessment, intrusion detection and threat management.
Immunet, maker of cloud-based anti-virus solutions, has named
Zulfikar Ramzan chief scientist. He will be charged with expanding the capability of the company's cloud-based security software, including its free anti-virus offering. Ramzan formerly served as technical director and architect at
Symantec.
