Australia brings IT home
After years of outsourcing, the Australian government is touting a AU$250 million infrastructure procurement program as a means to rebuild the nation's IT skills. A spokesman admits there are risks, but believes it necessary.
Security market growing
A recent study of security markets from the Yankee Group says that companies will outsource 90 percent of security operations by 2010. This would grow the market for managed security services to $3.7 billion.
Nearsourcing
Many U.S. companies, including Dell, Sykes, Sitel, IBM, Proctor & Gamble and Western Union, are moving operations to Latin America. The trend is expected to grow even further once the Central American Free Trade Agreement takes effect Jan. 1.
