Pentesting the Cloud – 18 Months of Practice in 60 minutes

Drawing from real-world campaigns and adversary behaviors, this session will help you:

  • Understand how cloud pentesting differs from traditional testing and what that means for your exposure
  • Break down attack paths that pivot from cloud to on-prem in minutes
  • Identify critical blind spots in IAM, segmentation, and cloud logging that attackers use to move laterally
  • Focus your detection and remediation efforts on what’s truly exploitable

As cloud adoption accelerates, so do the complexities of defending modern, hybrid environments. Traditional security tools miss the mark when it comes to exploiting cloud infrastructure, identities, and misconfigurations. In this 1:1 session, we’ll discuss the role of Cloud Pentesting - how it's done, within AUP standards to expose the gaps your tools overlook.

Event Speakers

Alex Spivakovsky
VP Research & Cybersecurity at Pentera

Alex Spivakovsky holds an M.Sc. in Engineering from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, and has spent over a decade in cybersecurity, starting with seven years in Israel’s C5I unit. There, he gained hands-on experience across a variety of roles including red teaming, incident response, reverse engineering, and leading blue teams.

In 2018, Alex joined Pentera as one of its early researchers. Since then, he’s had the opportunity to grow alongside the company, helping build and lead a research team now over 20 people strong. Their focus: exploring offensive security techniques and integrating real-world findings into Pentera’s platform. In 2023, he also took on the role of VP of Cybersecurity, working to improve internal defenses with the same agile mindset the research team brings to product development.

Alex is especially proud of helping foster a fast-moving, curious, and collaborative team environment, and of contributing to Pentera’s growth from a small startup to a global company making a real impact in the security space.

Outside of work, Alex enjoys outdoor sports, keeping up with cybersecurity trends, and staying just a little too invested in the X-Men comics and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Lately, he’s been diving into the world of AI—curious to see how it might make life a bit easier (or at least more interesting) for his team, his family, and himself.
