Sean Mahoney is Vice President and Information Security Officer at Netswitch Technology Management, where he leads fractional CISO advisory work for healthcare, manufacturing, financial services, and professional services clients.

He came to security from the P&L side. Before 2018, he spent twelve years as an EVP running a $75 million manufacturing operation, with responsibility for 235 staff, supply chain security, CTPAT vendor audits, and recovery from three ransomware attacks he personally led response on. His current work sits where governance meets managed security operations. He runs multiple fractional CISO engagements, oversees MSSP and MDR client relationships, and builds GRC programs against NIST CSF, ISO 27001, HIPAA, SOC 2, PCI DSS, and CMMC. Representative results include closing 60+ SIG gaps in 180 days to protect a $25 million manufacturing contract, moving a healthcare provider from under 10 percent HIPAA compliance to over 90 percent across a three-year roadmap, and cutting MTTD and MTTR by 90 percent through SIEM and EDR modernization. He has led 15+ security risk assessments across SEC/FINRA, NYDFS, ISO 27001, and HIPAA environments, and stood up third-party risk programs covering ITAR, CCPA, and GDPR obligations.

Sean holds the CISM from ISACA and AI cybersecurity governance and privacy certifications from Vanderbilt, with the IAPP CIPP/US expected in 2026.

Beyond client work, he serves as Vice President of InfraGard Kansas City, hosts the Cybersecurity Chronicles podcast, publishes the Cyber Risk Governance Insights newsletter to 11,000+ subscribers, and owns the 5,600-member Cyber Risk Governance community on LinkedIn.
