Michael Carr, JD, CISSP, CCSP, CIPP/US/E, is a Business Information Security Officer at The Kroger Company (large retail grocer). He is an IT and cybersecurity veteran who has worked in large manufacturing, county government, higher education, financial services, and retail operations (in BISO, CISO and CIO roles). Mike teaches (and has taught) a variety of cybersecurity courses in several universities across the US (recently focusing on Governance, Risk & Compliance, IT Governance, and Risk Management). He is also an information privacy professional and a licensed attorney in Ohio and Kentucky.

Mike has been an active member of Northern Kentucky University’s Center for Information Security Advisory Council, and InfraGard; he has also served on (ISC)2’s Certification Exam Development team. He’s also a regular blood donor, a mentor, a precinct election official, a frequent speaker at InfoSec conferences, an award-winning singer/songwriter, and a KCBS Master Certified BBQ Judge.

He earned his Juris Doctor (JD) degree from the NKU Salmon P. Chase College of Law, an MBA from the University of Cincinnati, an MS in Computer Science from the University of Dayton, and a BA in Mathematics from the University of Cincinnati.
