A California woman has been charged with two counts of illegal wiretapping and possession of illegal interception devices after wiretapping a former police officer – her husband.Kristin Nyunt, 41, of Monterey, Calif., allegedly used the spyware on her ex-husband's mobile device to “intercept communications” from 2010 to 2012, according to a release by Northern California District Attorney's office. Additionally, during that time frame she also illegally possessed “spy software” that included Mobistealth, StealthGenie and mSpy, all products that can be used to intercept communications.Recently, 31-year-old Hammad Akbar, CEO of InvoCode Pvt Ltd, which sells StealthGenie, was indicted for creating the software that targeted iPhone, Blackberry, and Android devices.If convicted, Nyunt faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison, as well as a fine of up to $250,000 for each violation.
