Voxbeam fined $4.5M by FCC over robocall case

Major U.S. voice service provider Voxbeam Telecommunications has been ordered by the Federal Communications Commission to pay a $4.5 million penalty for allegedly accepting suspicious call traffic from a foreign provider without authorization, The Cyber Express reports.

Voxbeam had routed suspicious robocalls from Axfone a Czech Republic-based provider not registered in the database onto the US network from March 31 to April 3, 2025, an investigation by the FCC showed. Several calls use fake numbers associated with customer service lines at banks such as Chase and Bank of America, or fraud departments to impersonate large financial organizations. These calls should have been blocked before reaching consumers under existing rules.

"Companies like Voxbeam must ensure they are not accepting traffic from sketchy operators. These gateway providers are the on-ramps to American phone networks and with that business model comes significant responsibility," said FCC Chairman Brendan Carr. The FCC warned that acting as a pass-through for call traffic will no longer be allowed.
