The Office of Personnel Management has begun hiring cybersecurity specialists to work across several federal agencies through the US Tech Force, Nextgov/FCW reports. The Tech Force is hoping to fill positions, including product managers, data scientists, and software engineers. The government is working with over 20 private firms on the program, offering possibilities for mentorship and training. Those businesses will also designate their own staff members to serve as managers for the Tech Force. Such an arrangement has sparked several ethical and conflict-of-interest issues because the managers will continue to work for the government while on leave from their private sector employers. As part of the broader initiative to put fellows at the space agency, OPM also established a special NASA Force last month. According to an OPM representative, many agencies taking part in Tech Force are nearing the end of the hiring process, and cyber hires will also be included in the first cohort.
