Upwind launches Choppy AI for transparent cloud security analysis

Cloud security firm Upwind Security has announced the general availability of Choppy AI, a new suite of artificial intelligence capabilities embedded within its runtime-first cloud-native application protection platform, SiliconANGLE reports.

The offering is designed to address the growing complexity of cloud environments by using natural language to accelerate security exploration, investigation, and policy creation while providing full transparency into the AI's logic. Unlike what Upwind characterizes as typical "black box" AI tools, Choppy AI translates plain-language queries into structured, editable rules and queries that teams can inspect and modify, ensuring auditability and trust. According to CEO Amiram Shachar, the goal is to give teams "the speed of AI with the transparency and control they need to trust the outcome."

Key features include converting free-text searches into customizable Query Builder expressions, translating natural language into security policies for detecting misconfigurations, and offering an interactive vulnerability investigation mode that prioritizes risks based on real runtime exposure. The AI augments rather than replaces existing workflows, grounding all outputs in Upwind's contextual runtime data, and is now available to all of the company's customers.
