The Royal Canadian Mounted Police has arrested a teenage for allegedly hacking into the system of a third-party supplier of Bell Canada, accessing customer data, and posting it online.
The young man, who cannot be identified because of his age, was arrested Friday at his residence in Bagotville, Quebec, and has been charged with one count of unauthorized use of a computer and two counts of mischief in relation to data, according to a report by The Globe and Mail.
Authorities believe that the teen is a member of NullCrew, a hacktivist collective that has laid claim to various hacks on businesses and government agencies.
In February, Bell Canada, the country's largest communications firm, alerted its small business customers that 22,421 usernames and passwords had been accessed as a result of the hack.
