Just a year after Silent Circle introduced the Blackphone, the company is buying out its partner Geeksphone, assuming full ownership of their joint venture SGP Techonologies and the privacy-first smartphone. The company, which recently named Entrust President and CEO F. William Connor as President and CEO, has also completed a private, common equity round in which it raised around $50 million aimed at accelerating its growth. Perot Group Chairman Ross Perot Jr., who is one of the original private investors in the company, spoke to Silent Circle's “incredible growth” as well as the enterprise's “growing recognition of the importance of privacy” in a statement made in a press release.Conner noted in the press release that “in a post-Sony and Gemalto world, security breaches have been made both enterprise and personal so it's no longer an issue affecting just the boardroom.”
